ST.Paul Church On the fort side of Diu town is the island's last remaining fully-functional church, St Paul's. Completed in 1610, the church has an excellent baroque facade and a very fine selection of wooden panelling and furniture inside, including an extravagantly carved 400 year old pulpit.
St.Thomas Church ( Museum )The Church of our Lady of the Immaculate Conception in the small village of Fudam (about 5km west of Diu Town) has been disused for some time though luckily it was open when I visited. It was the begining of January and the inside of the church was still decorated with paper streamers left over from the Christmas/New Year celebrations - the only trace of human life there.
Diu Fort Given their scrap value, I was quite surprised at how many of the fort's old guns had survived. In some places they are badly corroded whilst others, such as the one shown here, are almost perfectly preserved.

Panikotha The small white fort on the left of the picture is the Fortino do Mar, aka the 'sea fort' or Panikot Fortress. Although it's pretty tiny, the fort (built in 1535) was easily defended and dominated the important shipping routes for hundreds of years. It houses a lighthouse and a chapel and there was talk of opening a smart tourist restaurant there, though in January '99 when I took these pictures, it was not accessible.
